With reputed, diversified promoters and strong stress on quality, Conmix has strengthened its hold on the concrete and plaster industry. 30 years of existence is the proof of their commitment to quality products.

Welcome to Conmix Ltd, an enterprise fired by a marriage of multi-faceted expertise. Esta-blished in 1975 in Sharjah as a joint venture between Bukhatir Investments, German Gulf Enterprises Ltd and Karl Epple GmbH of Germany, Conmix is one of the oldest and largest manufacturers of high quality ready-mixed concrete and dry pre-mixed plaster products in the Middle East.

The high-profile promoters of the concrete-and-plaster major have enviable track records. Bukhatir Investments, owned by Abdulrahman Mohammed Bukhatir, a prominent Sharjah businessman, needs no introduction. German Gulf Enterprises Ltd is a leading engineering and trading company representing world-famous engineering and heavy equipment companies like Putzmeister, Liebherr and Atlas in the UAE. Karl Epple GmbH, the German partner, is a century-old giant, pioneering in the field of ready-mixed concrete and plaster manufacturing technology.

Armed to the teeth

With more than 50 types of pre-mixed plasters and mortars for both internal and external use, Conmix has clearly established itself as a market leader. The Conmix product range covers ready-mixed concrete, cement and gypsum lime plasters, decorative plasters, acoustic and insulation plasters, tile adhesives, grouts and specialised mortars. Besides, the company has recently added construction chemicals, in technical collaboration with an international company.

Ready-mixed concrete is Conmix's core business. But, understanding the ever-increasing market needs has led the company to diversify its products. Its wide range of product mix has enabled the company to meet market challenges besides providing it better profit margins, opines Conmix General Manager Lothar Hellenkamp.

Conmix Head office in Sharjah has six fully computerised batching plants with a combined capacity of 500 cubic metres of ready-mixed concrete per hour. Then there are three dry pre-mixed plaster plants, including the one in India. All support equipment, storage and warehouse space are within the factory premises. Conmix (India) Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of the Arab-German joint venture Conmix Ltd, was incorporated in October, 1999, and started production in January, 2002. This fully computerised pre-mixed plaster factory is located in Wada near Mumbai. The Sharjah operation aside, Conmix also has a branch in Umm Al Quwain and two branches in Dubai.

The concrete-and-plaster manufacturer has a team of 400 skilled and trained multinational employees backed by highly experienced engineers and laboratory personnel. Its technical advisers are always available to assess projects and recommend the most suitable materials and cost-effective systems.

Exemplary standards

Conmix makes it a point to deliver its products and services promptly and accurately to their customers. The efficient use of the company's fleet of 100 transit mixers, 20 Putzmeister mobile and stationary concrete pumps and hydraulic distributor booms ensures that Conmix's operations run with clock-work precision. The company's products have successfully crossed the boundaries of UAE, making their presence felt throughout the GCC, Africa, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and other countries. A vast and well-knit distribution network in more than 22 countries facilitates Conmix products' global presence, enabling it to clock up successful sales.

The company strongly swears by quality. With IS0 9001:2000 quality system model for quality assurance in design, development, production, installation and servicing, Conmix products meet international standards and are constantly tested for quality.

In addition, it follows stringent quality regulations and its products meet all the relevant BS, ASTM and DIN standards. Conmix has a fully equipped laboratory and a research and development wing with state-of-the-art facilities supported by the German parent company, which help the company to maintain requisite standards.

In its surge towards economic excellence, the concrete-and-plaster maker has not forgotten its social commitments. It has always followed an eco-friendly approach and is continuously improving it. It has taken particular caution to ensure that dust emissions caused while charging cement and other fine materials in silos are reduced below internationally accepted levels by deploying specially designed filter techniques and automatic safety devices.

The company is also equipped with a modern recycling plant where excess concrete and washing water are reprocessed. While solid wastes are disposed of in a proper manner, water is reused for washing of truck mixers. This helps in saving precious water even as it keeps environment unpolluted and clean.

With such reputed promoters, success is but natural for a company like Conmix. Yet, it has never allowed complacency to set in. And therein lies the real success of this concrete, plaster and construction chemicals giant.
