The Community Policing Section of the North Security Department (NSD) organised a two-day security exhibition for schoolchildren at Al Khor Sports Club recently. The event was attended by a large number of children from the area. At the inaugural ceremony, Capt Rashid Mubarak al-Khayareen from Community Policing introduced the section, followed by a musical show by a band from the Police Training Institute (PTI) and a police canine show by the Criminal Evidence and Information Department (CEID). NSD director Brig Ali al-Nuaimi stressed the importance of organising such a security exhibition for students as it would leave a long-term impact on their sense of security and culture.
He added that community policing had succeeded in forging a partnership with individuals and civil institutions while completing four years of service. Head of Community Policing at the NSD, Col Ahmed Zayed Mohanadi, said the section was holding the exhibition for the fourth year in a row due to its impact on the minds of young people with regard to security. Awareness lectures were delivered as part of the exhibition. Lt Abdul Wahid al-Anzi from the Traffic Department gave a lecture on traffic safety, emphasising the role of awareness and education in reducing traffic accidents. He advised children to develop a culture of traffic safety by complying with rules and taking precautionary measures while crossing the road.
He also reminded that the family had a major role to play in guiding children in terms of obeying traffic rules and following traffic signals while on the road. Besides Community Policing, several other departments of the Ministry of Interior - such as the CEID, Juvenile Police, Public Relations, PTI, Civil Defence, Drug Enforcement, Traffic, Criminal Investigation, Permanent Committee for Drugs and Alcohol Affairs, Al-Fazaa, Penal & Correctional Institutions and Logistics at Lekhwiya - participated in the exhibition.
Civil institutions and organisations such as Dhakhira Youth Centre, Qatar Sports Club, Al Ahli Sports Club, Al Arabi Sports Club, Al Khor Sports Club, Semaisma Youth Centre, Seashore Group and LuLu Hypermarket also took part in the event. Brig al-Nuaimi honoured the participating departments, schools, youth centres, companies and institutions and hoped for further co-operation for a safer community.
