MUSCAT -- Most of the food commodities maintained stability in the recent survey of prices conducted by the Public Authority for Consumer Protection. The survey pointed out the stability of key commodities such as Basmati rice, tomato paste, salt, red lentils, Minara oil and Nido and Mudhish milk powder, cheese, eggs and Jabal Akhdar cooking oil at their levels in the previous survey on July 25 in the wholesale and retail stores.

The price of Basmati Abu Duik (40 kg) was sold for RO 20.750 at Carrefour, LuLu and Sultan. The same commodity at Safeer was sold at RO 20.890 and at Rawasco at RO 22.200. Al Khareef flour price hovered between RO 1.890 and RO 1.975. It was sold at Carrefour at RO 1.890, at Safeer and Rawasco at RO 1.940, at LuLu and KM Trading at RO 1.975. Al Dhahabi flour was sold at most of the stores at RO 2 except Safeer at RO 2.100.

The price of cooking oil (Afia 1.8 litres) at Carrefour, LuLu, Sultan and KM was RO 1.830 while at Rawasco and Safeer it was RO 1.850. The price of Al Safa chicken (1 kg) was sold at most of the stores at RO 1.350 except KM at RO 1.360. In the wholesale stores, the price of Basmati (40 kg) was sold for RO 22.500 at Thani Habib store and Majid Muttrah. The same commodity at Hamoud al Amri was sold at RO 23. The commodity was not surveyed at Al Silal al Ta'habiah in Ruwi and Rawdhat Ruwi.

Meanwhile, the prices of steel have declined at the companies where the PACP survey was conducted. The highest price decrease was from RO 310 to RO 307 per tonne while the minimum price stood at RO 301. The survey included Middle East, Al Ansari and Oman for Construction Materials. Sharq Sohar decreased from RO 310 to RO 305 in the Middle East.

The survey shows that the price of steel at Oman for Construction Materials varied between RO 301 and RO 305. Qatar steel of 12-32 mm size was stable at RO 305 per tonne at Oman for Construction Materials.
