Muwaqqar, July 6 (Petra) -- The first Civil Defense Forum kicked off here on Wednesday to discuss better defense services and closer coordination among civil defense departments in the Arab world.

The forum, which opened at Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah Academy of Civil Protection, is organized by Naif Arab University for Security Sciences, in cooperation with the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO) and Civil Defense Department.

The two-day event brings together 78 specialists from 11 Arab countries, including Jordan, Bahrain, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Palestine, Qatar, Kuwait, Lebanon, Egypt and Morocco, in addition to ICDO and Interpol.

Minister of Interior Mazen Saket underlined the importance of civil defense in protecting citizens and societies, calling to develop civil protection departments and involve ordinary citizen in the protection process.
