Chabahar Port will give discounts to and provide facilities for merchants and businessmen given its transit and transship capabilities, director of Sistan and Blauchestan's Ports and Shipping Directorate said.
"Among the policies for providing incentives for businessmen are a 30 percent port discount... and a 20 percent discount on commercial profit," added Siavash Rezvani, who was addressing the meeting of heads of commercial organizations of provinces of Khorasan, Tehran, Kerman and Sistan and Baluchestan on Saturday.
He said plays an important part in reduction of costs for transit of goods from eastern parts of the country and Central Asia compared to other southern ports, IRNA reported.
Referring to conditions of Shahid Beheshti and Shahid Kalantari ports in Chabahar, he noted, "Shahid Beheshti Port covers an area of 240 hectares, its dock is 16 hectares in area, it has 30,000 square meters of roofed warehouses and five oil and non-oil jetty posts. The port can provide anchorage for 30,000-ton ships. Shahid Kalantari Port has five jetty posts and can anchor 50,000 ton ships."
He recalled that the project for expanding Shahid Beheshti Port is underway in five phases and its loading and unloading capacity will increase to six million tons from the present level of 2.5 million tons.
