CDA launches first Ramadan Hatta Forum 2009 Dubai, 27th Aug. 2009 (WAM): As part of various initiatives to achieve its strategic objectives for the social sector, the Community Development Authority (CDA) has opened the Ramadan Hatta Forum 2009 activities at Hatta Fort Hotel. This is part of CDAs commitment to enhance communication with Hatta residents through a number of Ramadan activities awareness, sports and entertainment - that target all segments of the society.

CDA plays a vital role in social protection and local community development through the establishment of an integrated social system. This is to enable all members of the Dubai community to positively contribute to various development sectors and strengthen social relations. This is based on the principles of acceptance and respect for others and openness to other cultures within the clear framework of UAE cultural values.

Her Excellency Dr. Maryam Matar, Director of Community Development Authority, said: "Ramadan Hatta Forum is the first step in establishing stronger linkages between CDA and members of the community, and thus achieve the goals of social integration outlined by CDA. The Forum has evolved as a forum for connecting with all members of the community." She added: "I thank all those who joined us during the opening ceremony and the organisers of the Forum, which has truly created a distinguished and productive atmosphere for cultural interaction during the Holy Month of Ramadan." Ahmed Al Muhairi, CEO of the Community Centers, opened the Forum. He highlighted CDAs role in achieving the Dubai Strategic Plan 2015 in the social sector, and also in assuring the welfare of all segments of the society. "The launch of the first Ramadan Hatta Forum comes in the framework of organising activities and events that serve all society members intellectually, culturally and socially. Hatta has been chosen because of its popular heritage." The Ramadan Hatta activities include hosting a selection of speakers and social specialists and poets, including Sheikh Dr. Omar Abdul Kafi and Dr. Iman Gaad. The activities include poetry evenings, five draws for Umrah and a special event at the Dubai Women's Association. A special tent to celebrate Ramadan evenings has also opened for youngsters to discuss social issues.

CDA will also sponsor the Ramadan Hatta football championship at Hatta Park, and support activities related to Ramadan Arts Society, in addition to sponsorship of the events of Hatta National Arts and Culture Association during the Holy Month.
