CB&I Opens Engineering Center In Ajman
US contractor CB&I has opened a global engineering center in Ajman to address the increased demand resulting from new regional projects. The center can house more than 200 engineers and support staff, and will utilize a wide range of engineering software platforms. The center will draw from a pool of engineers based in the UAE and is expected to be fully operational by the fourth quarter of this year. CB&I’s EPC contracts in the region include storage facilities for the Pearl GTL project in Qatar valued at $150mn, storage tanks and pressure vessels for the Sharq petrochemical project in Saudi Arabia ($40mn), LPG storage tanks for Abu Dhabi Gas Industries’ (Gasco) gas processing plant at Ruwais ($130mn – MEES, 5 September 2005), and a front end engineering and design (FEED) contract, worth $265mn for an oil refinery at Ras ΄Isa on Yemen’s Red Sea coast (MEES, 23 January 2006 and 1 March 2004).
