Iran's trade opportunities in Kenya were discussed in a gathering held in Qom on Wednesday attended by a senior official of Iranian Embassy in Kenya, Masoud Gharanfoli.

The participants studied trade potentials in Kenya and the alternatives for promoting business with this African nation.

Pointing to the 5.5-percent economic growth of Kenya, Gharanfoli called this African nation as a suitable place for investment of Iranian businesspersons, Mehr News Agency wrote.

He added that some Iranian commodities such as tomato paste, pasta, olive seeds, and olive oil have become highly visible in Kenyan market. The Iranian diplomat also referred to agricultural crops and foodstuff including tea, coffee, flower, and sauces as Kenyan products.

He continued that Kenya has Vision 2030 which anticipates social and cultural developments as well as infrastructural projects such as roads and power plants construction. Each of the projects can be an economic opportunity for Iran, he added.

He said Kenya needs bitumen and waterproofing systems given its tropical rains. This can also be a good opportunity for Iranian industrialists, he pointed out.

Currently, Kenyans have been inclined to using stones in buildings, he said, adding marketing in this field is possible easily.

He highlighted that Iran could sell mineral water to this African nation as well.
