The master developer of Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO) is expected to complete the schematic design of the USD 299 million Silicon Park within the Dubai free-trade zone by November 2014.

"The schematic design for the project is currently under process. The tender for the main construction contract for Silicon Park is expected to be announced in the first quarter of 2015," a source close to the project told Zawya in an exclusive.

The UAE-based architecture and civil engineering firm, Design and Architecture Bureau (DAR Consult) has been awarded the design consultancy contract by the DSO Authority.

The Silicon Park project, which was announced in March of this year, involves the construction of a mixed-use development, which will comprise 71,000 square meters (sq m) of office space, 25,000 sq m of commercial space, 46,000 sq m of residential space and facilities such as a 115-room business hotel, restaurants, fitness centers and a shopping complex.

The project will be built with green building material and control mechanisms, as well as solar panels and double-glazed windows to reduce heat absorption. It will also feature intelligent solutions from charging-docks for smart devices on the street to smart pop-up furniture and digital play tables, as well as optimally designed bus shelters, piazzas shading and other public amenities.

The project completion is slated for the fourth quarter of 2017.
