Dubai A half century by Santu Rupani and a brilliant all-round performance from Vinay Tolani was the highlight of Chawla Sindhi Royals’ emphatic five-wicket win over Vintage Victorious Sindhis in the Sindhi Premier League which is being conducted by the Sindhi Cricket Club under the auspices of the Dubai Cricket Council at 7he Sevens ground last night.

In another match, Petrochem Sindhi Kings came out on top with flying colours beating Multiplex Sindhi Rockstars by 21 runs

Opting to bowl after winning the toss, Sindhi Royals’ Chawla got into the act right away by dismissing both openers. Ranjeet Chavan had no clue to one from Harish Jashnani and was clean bowled while Puneet Bhatia, who struggled for his eight runs, was cleaned up by Tolani.

Victorious hardly began finding their feet when Rajesh Thadani sent Prakash Gurbani back to the pavilion. At this stage Neeraj Ramamoorthy (28) and Abhinav Bhandari (15) put their heads down and without taking any risks build a partnership of 60 runs for the fourth wicket.

The duo took the team to 90 when Thadani returned to remove Bhandari while Tolani got rid of the dangerous Ramamoorthy.

Yash Makar, who was the hero of Victorious’ previous match, once again shone with the bat, hitting a brisk 35 off 24 balls which included four sixes. And in the company of Dilip Kundnani (30 off 19 balls) they took their team to what looked like a decent total.

Sindhi Royals were rocked early with Harish Jashnani departing on the first ball, falling to Yash Makar. Thereafter, Santu Rupani took charge and played a belligerent unbeaten Man of the Match knock of 54. He found the ropes on eight occasions and in the company of Vinay Tolani (32 retd), Rajesh Thadani (19) and Vinay Mehra (20 n.o.) took their team home with 10 balls to spare.
