Dubai: Top seed Mohammad Al Gareeb will take on second seed Omar Behroozian in the final of the 7th GCC Men's Tennis Championships at the Dubai Municipality tennis courts.
Al Gareeb, who has the unique record of appearances in all seven finals, lived up to his top ranking with a 6-4, 6-0 win against the UAE's Mahmoud Nader.
Behroozian on the other hand, was clinical in his 6-0, 6-1 demolition of Oman's Mohammad Al Nabhani in the second semifinal.
Al Gareeb is headed for a rare double after he teamed up with Ahmad Rabea to clinch the doubles crown 6-1, 6-2 against Mohammad and Khalid Al Nabhani of Oman.
Complete control
The first semifinal between Al Gareeb and Nader was evenly matched. But once Al Gareeb got a decisive break to pocket the first set, Nader seemed to run out of perseverance as he caved in to hand over the second set 6-0.
The second semifinal was a one-sided affair with Al Nabhani trying his best following his comeback from a surgery a couple of months back. But Behroozian was in complete control breezing through the first set 6-0. Things were no different in the second with the Omani youngster holding his serve only once as Behroozian took the set 6-1 and booked his place in the final against Al Gareeb.
Results: (Singles) Omar Behroozian bt Mohammad Al Nabhani 6-0, 6-1; Mohammad Al Gareeb bt Mahmoud Nader 6-4, 6-0.
(Doubles) Mohammad Al Gareeb/Ahmad Rabea bt Khalid Al Nabhani/Mohammad Al Nabhani 6-1, 6-2.
