AMMAN (JT) -- A US delegation of behaviour analysts has arrived in the Kingdom to present papers and seminars on the science and application of behaviour analysis and network with professionals and institutions to establish and develop opportunities to expand the vitality of this field.

Behaviour analysis is the study of behaviour change -- behaviour analysts are concerned with the application of science-based behavioural principles to solving human problems.

The delegates, who will be in Jordan until Sept. 30, are scheduled to conduct brief presentations at the King Abdullah I Hospital today, according to a statement released by the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT), which is sponsoring the visit.

The scheduled presentations include: Overview of behaviour analysis, behavioural approaches to autism and developmental disabilities, behaviour analysis in higher education, choice and management, and organisational behaviour management.

The delegation, being hosted by Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) President Wajih Owais and NYIT Executive Chairman for the Middle East Mohammad Hussein, are members of the Association for Behaviour Analysis International -- the largest association supporting the field, with over 4,600 members from 42 countries. In addition, the association has 55 chapters around the world, the statement said.

The delegates include Wayne Fisher, executive director of the Marcus Behaviour Centre at the Marcus Institute; Linda J. Hayes, professor of psychology at the University of Nevada, Reno; Maria Malott, executive director of the Association for Behaviour Analysis International; and M. Jackson Marr, professor of psychology at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
