Muscat - Bank Nizwa, Oman's first Islamic bank, held a reception on Monday to commemorate its official launch. The reception, at the bank's head office, was held to mark the opening of the bank earlier this month.
H H Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq al Said, personal advisor to His Majesty the Sultan, was the chief guest at the ceremony. It was attended by founders, members of the board, management team of the bank and dignitaries from across the sultanate.
Speaking at the event, Sayyid Amjad Mohammed Ahmed al Busaidi, chairman of Bank Nizwa, said, "We at Bank Nizwa have worked to launch a fully Sharia-compliant banking facility. I am proud to celebrate the opening of our very own fully dedicated Islamic bank."
Dr Jamil el Jaroudi, CEO of Bank Nizwa, said, "At Bank Nizwa we have a commitment to Islamic banking and we look forward to assisting our customers with their financial needs. The opening of our branches here in Qurm and also in Sohar and Nizwa, is a significant step in the expansion of our financial footprint and we will continue to invest in our growth, as we further develop our presence across Oman.
"We will always act upon the needs of our customers, delivering the Sharia-compliant products and services that they require in order support their current and future financial needs," Dr Jaroudi added.
