Bandar Anzali Free Trade Zone should be transformed into an export hub, Gilan governor general said here on Sunday.

Speaking while launching the executive operations of Bandar Anzali development projects, Rouhollah Qahremani noted that industrial and commerce infrastructures should be created in such a way that entrepreneurs in the field can feel completely rest assured about investing in the region.

He said that Bandar Anzali has great potentials which can be revolutionized in the short run.

Qahremani further noted that over 100 industrial, commercial and manufacturing units are active in Bandar Anzali.

Earlier, Qahremani held talks with the Syrian Ambassador to Iran Hamed Hassan on issues of mutual interest.

Addressing the meeting on 'Exports and Investments Opportunities of Gilan in Syria', Hassan put the volume of Iran-Syria trade at dlrs 300 million.

He hoped that the figure could reach dlrs 1.3 billion in the near future.

Hassan said that his country is willing to cooperate with Iran in the fields of tourism, agriculture and investment in the free trade zones.

Hassan called for fostering cooperation between Gilan and the Syrian provinces of Latakia, Aleppo and Damascus.

Qahremani, for his part, noted that the Gilan province is ready to cooperate with Syria in the agriculture, tourism, industry and other sectors.
