Celebrated Bahraini artists Abdullah Al Muharraqi and Ahmed Baqer will be displaying some of their highly collectable works of art at a unique art exhibition titled "The Beauty of The Arabian Horse", at the Arabesque Art Gallery next week.

The exhibition, which will be open to the public from the March 28 until the April 27, is set to highlight the talent of several other Bahraini artists, including Abdul Wahab Koheji.

This well-known artist is organising the event and will be displaying five of his works of art.

In addition, Khalil Al Hashimi, Jamal Abdul Rahim, Nabeela Al Khayer, Ibrahim Bu Saad and Ashgar Ismail, will all join an international line up of equestrian artists and sculptors, united in the central theme of the Arabian horse.

Al Muharraqi, born in 1939, has been the inspiration for a new generation of Bahraini artists. Well known for capturing the disappearing traditions and customs of the Arabian Gulf, his beautifully executed style of simple cubism is instantly recognisable and has won him many accolades and awards.

Baqer developed a love of art at an early age and, following this passion, spent five years at the School of Beaux-Arts, Paris, France, studying painting and drawing. He later received his PhD from the University of Paris. Today, Baqer is Professor of Fine Arts at the University of Bahrain.

Other Arab artists contributing to the exhibition are well-known Iraqi artists Sadiq Toma, who has a strong following in Bahrain, and Sasha Hashim.

"The exhibition is a prime opportunity to put Bahrain's traditions and culture in the international spotlight, at a time when Bahrain expects thousands of visitors as it plays host to the first Formula One to be held in the Middle East", Koheji said.
