Plans are on for staging an international conference and exhibition, the ‘HRD 2003’ to be held in Bahrain under the patronage of the Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, Dr Majeed bin Mohsen Al Alawi.
 
The ‘HRD 2003’ which will tackle human resource development challenges and issues will gather an international attendance where participants will focus on issues of unemployment, career development, new leadership paradigms, electronic HRM, and other human resource development issues.
 
The programme will be held under the auspices of the Executive Bureau of the GCC Council of Ministers of Labour and Social Affairs.a
“This is a special conference that will bring experts together and discuss the challenges confronting the region in the field of human resource development,” said Saeed Omar, Chairman of the organising committee from the CTM Events Management.
 
“We expect the participation of noted international speakers and experts. Attendance is not limited only to the GCC but is open to as many who wanted to take part in the conference,” Omar said.
 
The conference and exhibition will be held from October 21 to 23 at the Gulf International Convention and Exhibition Centre. Conference languages are English and Arabic with sumultaneous translation in both languages.
 
The conference, Omar said, is especially important for Bahrain to host as it will deal with relevant issues such as jobs’ localisation, training and qualification of local workfoce and new approaches in HRD. The conference will also touch on the aspects of developing small businesses such as entrepreneurship, business incubator programmes and similar fields.
 
A highlight of the conference and exhibition will be the focus on electronic HRM which will present current trends and applications of information in the HRD field.
