MANAMA - Key issues surrounding the current global energy climate will fall under the spotlight at the conference opening session of the 8th Middle East Geoscience Conference and Exhibition - GEO 2008 - on Sunday (March 2) at the Ritz Carlton Bahrain.

A panel of high ranking industry figures will deliver their own perspective on this year's conference theme "Integrated Geoscience - Technical, Business and People Solutions" to an audience of over 1,500 oil and gas professionals.

Following addresses by Bahrain's Minister of Oil & Gas Affairs and Chairman of the National Oil & Gas Authority Dr. Abdulhussain Bin Ali Mirza and the GEO 2008 Chairman and Chairman and Managing Director of Kuwait National Petroleum Company Farouk H. Al-Zanki, the speakers include Abdulkarim Al-Sayed, chief executive officer, Bapco; Khalid Al-Falih, executive vice president, Saudi Aramco; Johnny Hall, executive vice president, ExxonMobil Exploration and Chakib Sbiti, executive vice president, Schlumberger.

Over 400 oral and poster sessions and a selection of panel sessions designed to share the knowledge and experience of managing, operating and supplying companies amongst delegates will follow over the subsequent three days of the conference at the Bahrain International Exhibition Center.
