Bahrain Maritime and Mercantile International has opted for Sun Microsystems state-of-the-art servers and operating systems to boost efficiency, reliability and performance alongside providing easy access to critical information on a real-time basis, reducing system unavailability, improving the overall management of services and reduce costs.

Sun's Solaris operating system will replace BMMI's all existing business applications. "We needed to build an environment that was scalable in nature to enable BMMI to grow its business seamlessly, both within Bahrain and beyond our natural borders," said Mike Kruger, company chief investment officer. "The new Sun infrastructure will enable us to increase productivity and utilise our resources effectively, making it possible for us to offer better, competitive services to our customers. We even expect to start seeing a significant return on investment within 12 months of all systems going live."
