Regional and global players of the travel and tourism world will converge on the Kingdom, for one of the biggest travel expos of the Middle East and North Africa region - the Bahrain International Travel Expo (BITE 2008) - to be unveiled on May 14.

Airlines, car rental organisations, cruise lines, health resorts, spas, hotels, MICE organisers, tourism boards, tourism TV channels, tour operators, travel agents, medical tourism specialists, education providers, travel insurance companies as well as travel and tourism publishers will have an opportunity to interact with around 20,000 consumers and international MICE buyers to showcase their products and services.

Shaikh Salman Bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Chairman of the Bahrain Economic Development Board, will inaugurate the Expo on May14 at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre. The show will be open to trade and consumers from May 15 to 17.

"BITE 2008 is a place to generate and explore new leads, expand and consolidate business connections and address specific products for personal and corporate needs," say the organisers of the travel expo, Magnum Events and Exhibitions Management.

Travellers and travel industry professionals can discover a wide range of vacation destinations and holiday packages and education options around the world. "The interface with leading travel and tourism providers will enable people obtain the latest information about the travel and tourism industry trends while for the industry players it will be an opportunity to strengthen and develop business networks with old and new suppliers," they said.

For the third consecutive year, the MICE hosted buyers programme will also be organised for key international MICE planners from around the world, including one-on-one meetings between buyers and sellers.

A career and education counseling corner was being introduced this year up to provide up-to-date information and career opportunities in the travel industry. Students from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Iran, Iraq, Oman, United Arab Emirates and Bahrain were expected to attend this year's show.
