A team from the American University in Dubai has won the fifth UAE National Programming Contest 2005, the annual student IT competition.

The contest was organised by the University of Wollongong in Dubai and hosted by Dubai Knowledge Village.

It seeks to encourage the development of programming talent in UAE's academic institutes. AUD students Bashar Al Rawi, Sina Poorkaesmaei and Maan Musleh won first place.

In second place were Rami Enbachi, Hani Al Haddad and Ammar Husam Hamzeh from the University of Sharjah.

The third-placed team comprised Faris Nabeel Mahmoud, Sami Nizar Mohammad and Rohi Naser Al Raai, also from University of Sharjah.
