The Public Works Authority of Qatar (Ashgal) has invited contractors to a clarification briefing on 5 March for the recently issued sewer repair, replacement and rehabilitation framework contract.

The USD 164.7 million (QAR 600 million) tender was issued on 5 February and the closing date is 25 March, 2014.

Contractors, who have purchased the tender, must submit clarifications and questions to be discussed prior to the event.

The scope of work includes repair, replacement and rehabilitation of foul gravity sewers, rising mains, surface ground water sewers, lagoons, manholes, signage and access.

It also includes work on any new assets added to the authority's network during the contract period.

Ashgal will shortlist a group of framework contractors who can take up work to a maximum of 40 percent of the contract's total worth at any time, which is USD 65.9 million (QAR 240 million).

Available at a non-refundable cost of USD 824 (QAR 3000) with a bond value of USD 617,860 (QAR 2.25 million), the tender is open to local, joint ventures and international bidders.

The contracts will be awarded for five base years plus two one year options subject to performance review.
