TUNIS - The 83rd meeting of the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) executive board opened works on Monday in Tunis, under chairmanship of ASBU Chairman Riadh Kamel Najm, with attendance of Union's Director-General Slah Eddine Mâaoui.
The session includes, as part of the 2010 "International Youth Year" celebration, a video-conference to be organised on June 15, on the theme "Arab Audio-visual Information and Youths' Dialogue," to be aired live in all the Union's member organisms.
The inaugural session was an occasion to highlight the success of ASBU's new satellite exchange system, "MENOS," which has been an accomplishment as testified to by the prizes and distinctions reaped at the Arab and international levels, and by the level reached in exchanging programmes, information and media coverage between the Union's member radios and televisions, notably of large-scale events.
It appears from the report presented by the general management, that the Union has ensured during the last six years co-ordination and coverage of numerous Arab and international events, jointly with the member organisms' information and exchange bodies.
Among the events covered by the ASBU, the Sirt Arab Summit, held last March 24-28 in Libya.
Actually, ASBU has planned to cover the G20 summit and works of the UN General Assembly.
