Saudi energy major Aramco has announced that the world's first hydrogen-powered truck, which has been developed by the French company Gaussin, will be taking part in the Saudi edition of Dakar Rally 2022 under its sponsorship.

The move is mainly aimed at highlighting the importance of developing transportation technologies with lower emissions.

Aramco said its Center for Advanced Innovations (Lab7) will be joining Gaussin in its efforts to manufacture hydrogen-powered vehicles and develop a hydrogen-powered, autonomous, or remote-controlled racing truck.

Designed with high-quality components to operate in rough environments, the truck has several technical features that make it the first hydrogen truck in the world to combine technology and power, it added.
