Saudi Arabian giant Saudi Aramco has contained a leak in an underground pipeline that feeds crude to the Ras Tanura refinery.

The leak did not affect output at the 550,000 barrel per day refinery, Aramco officials told Reuters.

The Baqaiq 6 pipeline links Baqaiq to Qatif before terminating at Ras Tanura.

"The leak occurred during reconditioning of the pipeline, and was isolated and repaired immediately," Aramco said.

The leak happened north of Abqaiq where the pipeline intersects with the Abqaiq-Dammam highway, and traffic was diverted for an hour for the repair and clean-up, Aramco said.

The company was reconditioning the line at the same time as work was taking place on the road, a spokesman said.
