CAIRO - Head of the Egyptian Journalists Syndicate Makram Mohammad Ahmad said Wednesday that he was assured by His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah that Arab political disputes will fade soon.
Ahmad wrote in Al-Ahram daily that HH the Amir, one of the leading figures in the Arab world, is well aware of the situation in the Gulf and Middle East, as he clarified that the current disputes among Arab leaders will be solved.
Ahmad quoted HH the Amir as saying, "The issue is in need of some time, but I am sure that this gap will be bridged when leaders and kings meet again, as it is not in the Arab interest to continue disputes." He added that HH the Amir expressed hope that all Arab leaders would attend the Social Economic Summit, hosted by Kuwait in 2009.
"If politics is causing disputes and battles, then Arab economic cooperation would join nations," Ahmad quoted HH the Amir as saying.
He also referred to the political activities in Kuwait under the framework of National Assembly elections and the new division of five constituencies.
Alter
"We hope elections would alter the image of the democracy in Kuwait," HH the Amir said, meanwhile expressing hopes that this democratic experience would witness female victory, after the women proved capability in serving the country.
Ahmad also referred to HH the Amir's reception of writer Anis Mansour on the occasion of the Fifth Arab Media Forum in Kuwait.
Meanwhile, His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah issued directives to all Kuwaiti ministers to maintain utmost cooperation with Turkish counterparts and officials to further bolster relations, said Health Minister Abdulla Al-Taweel Wednesday.
In a meeting with counterpart Recep Akdag at the Turkish Health Ministry Headquarters, Al-Taweel said HH the Amir also urged constant exchange of visits and meetings to explore possible joint action and "We are implementing these directives and believe they are in the interest of both states."
The minister also said relations with Turkey are progressing and improving specially in the health field.
Al-Taweel pointed out the agreement the two states signed in the area of health cooperation last February is hoped to further improve cooperation in this field. He urged meetings and deliberation over means and aspects of implementation and hoped his current visit would lay ground for such gatherings.
Cooperation
The Turkish minister meanwhile said the visit is an opportunity to consider possible cooperation areas. He noted a comprehensive dossier was prepared for consideration during the formal meetings and talks. Proposals on training Kuwaiti medical staff in Turkey and receiving Kuwaiti patients for care at Turkish facilities would be presented during meetings, he added.
The minister also proposed establishment of a joint health facility in Turkey to receive Kuwaitis seeking health care, as well as GCC nationals, pointing out this is a much more cost-effective option than seeking care in the US or Europe.
The two officials followed their meeting with another closed meeting that was restricted for representatives of the two health ministries and the Kuwaiti Embassy's Charge d'Affaires Advisor Dhyab Al-Reshidi.
