American official said on Saturday that the Iraqi government delivered a plane loaded with ammunition to Peshmarga Kurdish forces in Kurdistan region in an unprecedented step of military cooperation between Kurdish and Iraqi forces due to a serious threat by the militants.
The official said in a press statement followed by "Shafaq News" that Baghdad delivered ammunition, mostly small arms in cargo plane C-130 to Erbil, in a move Americans officials' hope that can help Peshmarga fighters in the region to repel terrorists of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria "ISIS", Stressing that this is unprecedented.
He added that the developments that have occurred over the past few days re-crystallize this issue resulted in an unprecedented collaboration between Baghdad and Erbil on tracking "ISIS" not only through words but also with regard to the actual support.
The American official said the administration of President , Barack Obama is now working with the Iraqi government to ensure the additional demands of Kurdistan Regional Government of small arms and ammunition, including mortars and AK-47 quickly, adding that Washington continues to coordinate with the Iraqi government to help meet the needs as soon as possible .
He said that although the shipment delivered on Friday came from existing stocks of the Iraqi government but it wasn't known whether additional weapons will be perhaps provided by Baghdad to Kurdistan and will come from the current Iraqi arsenal or from the United States through Baghdad.
Terrorists of ISIS are waging attacks on multiple axes against areas controlled by Kurdish Peshmarga forces on a front , officials say it will reach more than 1,000 kilometers and won and some progress in Sinjar, Zammar and some areas near Erbil, the capital of Kurdistan region.
U.S. warplanes have launched air raids on Friday on sites for "ISIS" in Kwer and Makhmor areas in the first direct American military intervention in Iraq since the withdrawal of American army from Iraq in 2011.
