Two former Algerian Army officers are being considered as possible successors to slain Algerian national security (DGSN) chief Ali Tounsi, Tout sur l'Algerie reported on Monday (April 12th). General Sadek Aït Mesbah served as head of presidential security and Colonel Mohamed Boutouili is currently working at the Ministry of the Interior.

In the wake of the Tounsi killing on February 25th, several conflicting stories emerged. Officials, however, have released few details regarding the progress of the formal inquiry now under way. The main suspect, Colonel Chouib Oultache, remains hospitalised.
