Cairo – Mubasher: Alexandria Port Authority signed a commitment contract with the Egyptian Group for Multipurpose Terminals to build a multi-purpose terminal at the port of Alexandria.
The contract includes designing, establishing, managing, and operating the multi-purpose terminal over an area of 560,000 square metres with a 2,500-metre long platform, according to a statement released by the Egyptian Ministry of Transport on Wednesday.
The terminal will have the capacity to handle containers and non-containerised goods weighing 10-12 million tonnes annually, the statement showed.
It is noteworthy that Alexandria Port Authority, Suez Canal Authority, the Holding Company of Maritime & Land Transport, and Alexandria Container and Cargo Handling Co are shareholders of the Egyptian Group for Multipurpose Terminals.
