Defending champions Al Wasl Travel maintained their lead at the top of the table with a comfortable 95-84 win against Lecebisa/Mediacom/Digital Clues in the ongoing PBA Dubai 9th Basketball Conference at the Al Wasl Club last week.
If the Lecebisa hoopsters hoped for a change in fortunes, they were to be thoroughly denied as Al Wasl Travel kept a tight hold on the proceedings.
The Lecebisa squad was a determined lot as they went all out for a win in an attempt to improve their chances of entering the final round. The first two quarters were evenly played with the Abu Dhabi team leading 28-26 and 50-49 in both the periods.
However, the defending champions took control in the third to close seven points in the clear at 71-64.
Al Wasl Travel coach Leo Ang quipped: "I told my boys not to feel overconfident and keep playing as if it is a final. I don't want them to repeat the mistake they made last time."
