Dubai: The Metro Station on Al Rigga Road will add much to this high profile road which is home to numerous shopping outlets, restaurants and hotels.
Al Rigga Road is a major attraction for tourists and residents alike.
It is considered one the most exciting part of the city all year around as it has dozens of restaurants and shops offering a large variety of shopping, entertainment and leisure.
For tourists, a trip to Dubai is not complete without visiting this road.
The road is also known as a paradise for pedestrians as it has wide walkways on both sides. Al Rigga is bordered by Rigga Al Buteen, Port Saeed, Al Muraqqabat and Naif and bound to the south by Dubai Creek.
It is also a favourite destination for diners who love to eat out in the open as almost all restaurants here serve food on tables set on the walkways.
Name any big restaurant in Dubai and it is there - from Arabic to Indian and from Chinese to fast food outlets. It is also known for designers' clothing for Emiratis and good bargain garment shops for all in addition to supermarkets, coffee shops, bookstalls and a number of banks. Al Rigga Road has a very high concentration of two- to-four-star hotels.
According to one estimate, there are more than 40 hotels and furnished apartments that offer good, cheap rooms for short- and long-term stays.
The shopkeepers, whose business suffered due to the construction of the station in the last three years, are now all set for brisk business once the underground metro station opens on this road on September 9 - the launch date of the Red Line of the Dubai Metro.
The road also becomes a centre of activities during the annual Dubai Shopping Festival.
