Al Meera Consumer Goods Company (QSC) has signed an agreement with Shannon Engineering for the construction of two new stores in Al Muraikh and Jeryan Nejaima areas. Al Meera plans to open about 10 new branches by the end of 2014.

The agreement was signed by Al Meera chief executive officer Guy Sauvage and the general manager of Shannon Engineering Company, Engineer Hany Abdel Fattah. Shannon Engineering will build the two stores - at Al Muraikh on an area of 5,526 sqm and Jeryan Nejaima on 5,526 sqm. They are expected to be completed in nine months.

The new agreement is part of Al Meera's expansion plan to reach all areas in Qatar.

The company had recently announced the construction of seven new stores at Rawdat Ekdeem, Al Azizia, Zakhira, Al Wajba, Muaither, Al Wakrah, and Al Thumama.

Guy Sauvage, and Dr Mohamed al-Qahtani, deputy CEO of Al Meera  said the company aims to have the "Favourite Neighbourhood Retailer" slogan well translated.

"The decision to build two more  branches align with our expansion policy to make everyone very close to Al Meera stores in every corner of Qatar", said Sauvage.

"Al Meera is not only building state-of-the-art stores, but also rehabilitating its old branches and maintaining them to fully transfer to the new innovative concept in order to promote new standards of a comfortable shopping experience in all the branches in Qatar."

According to Sauvage, the new branches will be contemporary buildings following the design of other branches recently opened, and the concept of malls that include the supermarket, many shopping outlets and a number of restaurants providing diverse customers with their daily needs.
