Al-Mazrouah Yard is nearing the completion of the first month of its second successive season with unprecedented sales figures, the Ministry of Environment (MoE) said yesterday. Around 27,200 box of vegetables amounting to nearly 190 tonnes were sold, alongside 38.4 tonnes of fresh fruits, 12,800 decoration plant saplings, 5.7 tonnes of fish, 142 heads of cattle, and 1,400 domestic birds. The number of buyers during the same period amounted to 21,000 compared to 6,000 for the same period of the previous season.
The report released by the MoE about the performance of Al-Mazrouah Yard for its first month indicates that many types of fresh vegetables and fish were sold at considerably lesser prices than those of the Central Market. Also, customers were particularly impressed with the high quality of the products on display. The livestock and domestic birds come with veterinary certificates affirming that they are disease free. The MoE's report said that Al-Mazrouah Yard would start its second month with more fresh, high quality products at competitive prices.
