DOHA: Al Jazeera English has updated its award winning website (http://english.aljazeera.net with a new look and expanded content.

The updated site, which incorporates a vibrant redesign, provides a superior user experience and offers visitors an easy to navigate, content-rich source for news. The visual enhancements serve to better orientate users around the site while enabling Al Jazeera English to further establish itself as a premier destination for news and information on the web.

In addition, the website offers a better visibility of articles, video and opinion pieces. New features have been added, including an "In-Depth" section, which aims to bring stronger and more varied analytical content to Al Jazeera's international online audience. The newly-refreshed site also features further developments in user interaction, including new spaces for comment and debate. This represents an upgrade from the previous site, which was in a 'read only' format.

"Al Jazeera English's site remains among the most popular news websites in the world. The refresh of the site will offer our visitors from around the world an easy to navigate resource for in-depth news and cutting edge opinion pieces," said Mohamed Nanabhay, Head of Online for Al Jazeera English.

He added that the refreshed site will provide a platform for smart debate and discussion, in keeping with the Al Jazeera mandate of providing a voice to all angles and opinions.

"We look forward our continued enhancement of the Al Jazeera English website and to showcasing groundbreaking content from our news and programming departments," he said.

Al Jazeera English's website will continue to add resources in the "Spotlight" and "Briefings" sections, bringing a host of diverse and reasoned voices to the Network's growing audience.

The refreshed site is designed to take full of advantage of the vast quantity of resources produced by the channel as a whole, integrating the various mediums of the Al Jazeera Network.

The software development and implementation, as well as the design and creative were done entirely in-house, making the site a uniquely Al Jazeera system.
