Dubai: Dominant Bits Pilani Dubai won the overall title at the 12th Annual Gulf Medical University (GMU) Ajman Sports Festival held in Ajman earlier this week.
Bits Pilani claimed the boys’ title in the cricket event, while the University of Sharjah took top honours in football.
Bits Pilani Dubai defeated Manipal University Dubai for the cricket title, while University of Sharjah beat Skyline University College Sharjah for the football crown.
In the girls’ cricket and football competitions, the hosts GMU Ajman won both the titles at the expense of Bits Pilani Dubai in the two finals.
As part of the Annual Sports Festival 2013, Intra-University sporting events were also held before the commencement of the Inter-Universities competitions.
Twenty leading colleges and universities from the UAE participated in the week-long festival, making it the biggest-ever inter-collegiate festival hosted by Gulf Medical University, Ajman.
The prize distribution ceremony was held at the Amphitheatre of Body and Soul Health Club Spa, Ajman.
Professor Gita Ashok Raj, Provost of GMU and Dr P.K. Menon, GMU’s Administration and Institutional Research and Planning Director, were the guests of honour.
