MUSCAT -- Ahlibank unveiled the logo of the bank's Islamic banking services at a press conference held on Saturday at the Al Bustan Palace Hotel. The logo of the Islamic banking services under the brand name of Al Hilal Islamic Banking Services, were inaugurated by His Highness Sayyed Faisal bin Turki al Said, COO, Brand Oman Management Unit. The members of ahlibank's board of directors, the Sharia Board, CEO and senior officials of the bank were also present at the ceremony.
Al Hilal Islamic Banking services will reach out to customers with the promise of being true and transparent to their beliefs, offering all the advantages of banking by following the principles of Sharia law. The bank will utilise a Sharia-compliant automated accounting system in order to ensure transparency in its financials and operations.
"We are optimistic that ahlibank's Al Hilal banking services will have a positive impact on Oman's Islamic banking sector. And we will remain firm on our commitment -- to be true and transparent to our customers in fulfilling their evolving demands; and to the government's agenda in the development of the Islamic banking industry," commented the CEO, Abdulaziz al Balushi while addressing the press conference.
The Sharia Supervisory Board for ahlibank's Al Hilal Islamic Banking Services includes prominent scholars from around the Middle East comprising Dr Ali Moheydeen Daghi, Dr Aflah al Khalili, Dr Fareed Mohd Hadi and Prof Abdulaziz Qasar. The Sharia Board will work independently and is free to review and comment on all contracts and transactions. Ahlibank will strictly follow the required conditions of the Sharia Board in order to ensure that all operations of Al Hilal Islamic Banking Services comply with Sharia.
Speaking at the logo launch event, Dr Ali Moheydeen Daghi, chairman of the Sharia Board said," We wish to acknowledge the efforts of the Board of Directors, Management and the staff of ahlibank for going the extra mile to ensure that all contracts and financial products are in accordance with the principles and laws of the noble Islamic Sharia. We hope to see Al Hilal Islamic Banking Services grow to become a leader in furthering the aims of Islamic banking services in the region".
The bank also plans to have dedicated Islamic branches that will cover different regions of the Sultanate in addition to its 12 existing branches.
