AFPC Completes Pipeline Repairs

A pipeline between the Umar field and the Tayyem processing plant in the area under operation by Al-Furat Petroleum Company (AFPC) was back in service on 15 July after catching fire on 12 July (MEES, 18 July). The Chairman of the AFPC board Sa'id Hunaidi announced on 15 July that the fire was put out in about three hours and that a 30m 24-inch section of the pipeline was changed, with the necessary maintenance carried out on the pipeline in the Dair al-Zour province in East Syria. Mr Hunaidi noted that less than 100 barrels of oil were spilt as a result of the fire, which had no effect on the company’s output. In the first quarter of 2011, AFPC produced 91,661 b/d of oil and 881 b/d of condensate (MEES, 16 May).
