DOHA: Qatar will soon have state-of-the-art technical inspection centres that allow motorists to complete all the procedures in a few minutes without the need to get out of their vehicles.

The first such facility will be set up near the Woqod Petrol station in Abu Hamour, a member of the Central Municipal Council (CMC) said.

Engineer Mishal Al Dahnim said the new centres will be technically more advanced compared to the existing inspection centres in the country.

Customers will not have to queue up for long since the inspection will be carried out in a more organised way.

"Once the new centres are ready, people will be able to complete all the procedures including payment of fees sitting in their cars," Al Dahnim was quoted as saying by Al Sharq.

He was reacting to public complaints about the crowding and delays at the few technical inspection centres in the country.

At some centres, like the temporary facility at Abu Hamour, people are forced to wait for one to two hours to get their vehicles inspected.

"CMC has taken up this issue and had discussions with the officials concerned," said Dahnim.

Woqod, that manages all the technical inspection centres in the country, has already announced plans to open several new centres across the country.

Two facilities at Mesaimeer petrol station and Wadi Al Banat (North University) petrol station will be opened during the second half of this year, the company said in its financial report recently.
