Abu Dhabi, August16, 2007 (WAM):Abu Dhabi Government,represented by ADSIC, has signed today an Enterprise LicenseAgreement with Oracle, the world's largest enterprise softwarecompany, in order to buy Oracle software solutions and supportand maintenance services. This agreement formally establishesOracle as a key technology partner.
Under the agreement, Oracle will license its market-leadingsoftware and the Oracle E-Business Suite ERP solution to allAbu Dhabi Government Entities. These software applications andsolutions will enable Abu Dhabi Government Entities eliminateduplication and overlap and maximize synergies in key systemsand applications. Moreover, these solutions will arm the AbuDhabi Government with better business information to furtherits goal to establish a modern, efficient and citizen-centrice-Government platform that is best in breed in the world. In this respect, Rashed Lahej Al Mansouri, ADSIC Chairman,said: "By virtue of this agreement, Oracle will provide Oracleapplications to all Abu Dhabi Government Entities at preferentialterms. ADSIC will work closely with Oracle to build the capacityand knowledge of Oracle product end-users in the Government,through providing a comprehensive training program." Explaining ADSIC's choice of Oracle, Al Mansouri added,"Oracle's leadership in applications and ERP solutions were amongthe key factors influencing our choice of development platform.We are certain that running Oracle solutions will arm the AbuDhabi Government with tools that will enable more effective decision-makingand optimal responsiveness." It's worth mentioning that Oracle E-Business Suite willalso enable ADSIC to realise one of its core mandates for e-Governmentservices, that of providing an electronic link between the localGovernment Entities as well as between the Federal Governmentand other local Governments in the UAE.
For his part, Husam Dajani, Senior Vice President OracleMiddle East and Africa, confirmed that, "The Abu Dhabi Governmentis adopting a revolutionary approach in order to improve itsservices. The much-needed implementation of the Oracle E-BusinessSuite will facilitate the optimisation of the standards of AbuDhabi Government Entities, improving performance and procedures." On the other hand, ADSIC is currently working withconcerned Government IT staff on the establishment of a TechnicalConsulting Committee, which would meet on a regular basis toexplore opportunities and challenges in implementing this licenseagreement to assess additional Oracle license requirements andto coordinate with all Abu Dhabi Government Entities in orderto reap the most benefits from the contract entered into withADSIC. Due to its government-wide comprehensiveness, this agreementbrought the Abu Dhabi Government immense savings where ADSIChave received the best return on its IT investment.
