Abu Dhabi, Mar 16th, 2010 (WAM) -- H.E. Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al-Khaili, Director General of Abu Dhabi Education Council and French Ambassador to UAE Alain Azouaou visited the 'Advanced Math and Science Pilot Class' at Al-Mawaheb Model School. The project was introduced at Al Mawaheb and Al Ittihad Model Schools in association with the French Lycee Louis le Grand School, which aimed at providing students with world class system preparing them for entry into the best international universities.
During the visit, Amal Al-Afifi, the school principal briefed Dr. Al-Khaili and Mr. Azouaou of students various activities and scientific experiments run at schools labs and related to the Pilot Class. Dr. Al-Khaili said that ADEC is keen to provide students with top quality education that would help them use their full potential, compete with their international peers and achieve top ranks at international competitions. He added that the Pilot Class was launched 2 years ago and comprises of 60 students of G-10 & G-11. The students are taught Math and Science in English following the same French curriculum applied in LLG School, in addition to studying French language for one hour weekly to acquire the basic skills of the Language. Dr. Mugheer pointed out that the curriculum will develop students observation skills, creative thinking, scientific skills and intelligence. It will also qualify students to obtain entry into courses leading to engineering qualifications at the best French universities in telecommunications, military devices and chemistry, as well as enroll in KUSTAR and other universities. Azouaou appraised the students efforts which reflect their keenness to prove their capabilities and gain the maximum benefit to fulfill the projects goals. In return, the students expressed their happiness to study French Language and their excitement about the relationship that they have established with their peers during their visit to a school in Paris last summer.Copyright Emirates News Agency (WAM) 2010.
