ABB announced on 28 November it had won a $79mn order from Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (ADWEA) for a 400kV substation in Fujairah. The substation will connect the Fujairah Water and Power Plant to the Emirates National Grid (MEES, 27 January 2003). Scope of supply includes two 500mva transformers; two 20mva reactive (mvar) reactors, and two 50mvar reactors; 20 400kV gas insulated switchgear bays; 21 132kV bays; as well as substation control and monitoring systems, protection, telecommunication, LDC integration and complete civil works. The ENG is expected to be finished by the end of 2006; the Fujairah substation must be completed within 18 months, ABB said.
