Tehran  -- Some 30 major telecommunications, radar and electronic warfare projects were put into operation on Wednesday in a ceremony in presence of Defense Minister Brigadier General Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar. The ceremony was held on the eve of the Khordad 3 (May 24) national celebrations which mark the Iranian recapture of the port city of Khorramshahr from the Iraqis on May 24, 1982.

The Iraqis had captured the city in the early days of the Iraqi-imposed on October 26, 1980. The successful retaking of the city was part of a massive military operation codenamed the 'Beitolmoqaddas' Operation. It is perceived as a turning point in the war and the liberation is celebrated in Iran every year.

Addressing the participants of the ceremony, Mohammad-Najjar said that completion of the projects and their products were the results of the hard works by the experts of Iran's defense industries.

He added products are used in electronic warfare, radar sites, air and sea navigation, electro-optical and laser sites, new generation of advanced night-vision and thermal binoculars as well as simulators of military operations.
