Damascus - Statistics of the General Company for Phosphate and Mines in Syria showed that the Company production of phosphate amounted to 3,608 million tons in 2010.
Phosphate sales totaled 3,452 million tons in 2010, estimated at SYP 10,093 billion (USD 1 ≈ SYP 47).
The raw materials of phosphate are mainly extracted from 2 major sites: Khnaifees and al-Sharqia with productive density of 2,650,000 tons. The discovered reserve exceeds 2 billion tons.
20% of the general production is locally used in producing phosphoric acids and fertilizers while the remaining 80% is exported through Tartous Port to Turkey, Greece, Italy, Belgium, Austria, Romania and other countries.
