DOHA: Yahoo! Maktoob unveiled the latest details of the Middle East's entertainment elite with the launch of a new OMG! celebrity newssite catering specifically to the Arab world.
From behind-the-scenes analysis to celebrity profiles, the Arabic site will feature the most up-to-date news from the region and beyond all within the OMG! global interface.
The site automatically consolidates thousands of links and posts from throughout the region's online community, offering visitors the unique opportunity to contribute and develop the site's daily headlines. The Middle East's hottest trends will also be reviewed in forums available exclusively to the OMG! site and can be accessed from wherever users are and across all devices.
Ahmed Nassef, Vice President and Managing Director of Yahoo! Middle East, said that the Middle East entertainment industry has always been incredibly colourful, with icons from the cinema and music industry dominating a host of celebrity-focused media.
The new OMG! site is thus part of Yahoo! Maktoob's aim to provide millions of internet users in the Arab world with personally relevant content, making Yahoo! Maktoob the centre of their online lives by connecting them to the people and things that matter to them.
"Originally a news aggregator, OMG! has seen an explosion of user involvement as technology enables people to connect and voice their enthusiasm like never before,"Nassef said. "In this part of the world in particular, celebrity icons extend well beyond national borders.
It is our goal to have OMG! Arabic serve as a locally relevant platform designed for the public and incorporating their views and opinions."
