MUSCAT -- Haya Water has started construction of the wastewater networks in the Airport Heights area of Muscat Governorate. Mohammed al Jameai, officer responsible for the project, said the wastewater networks in Airport Heights are part of the main spine project in the Wilayat of Al Seeb being undertaken by Gulf Petrochemicals and Trading Company, Mushrif Trading and Contracting Company and Green Tide General Trading Company at a total cost of RO55 million.
According to Al Jameai, around 9 km of main gravity sewer lines will be laid, in addition to 12 km of lateral sewers and connections of diameter ranging between 200 and 600 mm. The pipeline network will be built at maximum depths of 6.5 metres. A pumping station will be built with a capacity to pump 550 cubic metres of wastewater into the main collection line. Further, 21 kms of pipelines, along with a network of fibre optic cables, will also be installed.
The Airport Heights network will cover the area located alongside the Exhibitions Street right up to Muscat International Airport. Some 75 establishments in the area, including the Majlis Ash'shura building, Directorate General of Traffic, Muscat International Airport, and other government and private establishments, will be connected to the wastewater network.
The spine line is the fourth such project being carried out by Haya Water in the Wilayat of Al Seeb as part of the Muscat Wastewater Project. In addition, the company is also setting up a treatment plant with a daily capacity of 80,000 cubic metres. The company is also executing wastewater networks that operate on the air vacuum system in the coastal areas of Seeb. A third project to construct wastewater networks in South Al Maabelah is also progressing.
