Mustaqbali helps Emirati students to find in-demand professions in the Abu Dhabi labour market

Abu Dhabi: Zayed University (ZU) has partnered with the Abu Dhabi Tawteen Council (ADTC), in the capital yesterday (Monday) to launch the first phase of a new online manpower system, which will assist new Emirati graduates match their skill-sets to jobs in the Abu Dhabi labour market.

The Mustaqbali, or "My Future", system is designed to give Emirati graduates more access to available job openings, as well as up-to-date information and data relating to in-demand professions and disciplines in the Abu Dhabi labour market.

The ADTC has launched the new manpower system in three prominent universities: ZU, Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) and Al Ain University of Science and Technology. Work is also in progress to link Mustaqbali interface with other universities that will be announced later.

As a result of using Mustaqbali, the students will learn more about prominent employers and required qualifications and skills needed for available job openings.

The launching ceremony was attended by Professor Reyadh AlMehaideb, Vice President of ZU, and Abdulla Abdulaali Al Humaidan, Executive Director of the ADTC, as well as key officials from each institution.

"The cooperation between ZU and ADTC- through Mustaqbali interface- supports Emiratisation process and strategy that encourage more nationals to be part of the workforce and creates qualified Emirati young cadres, who are able to keep up with the requirements of the UAE labour market following graduation and participate effectively in the social and economic growth of the country," Professor AlMehaideb said.

Prof. AlMehaideb also pointed out that ZU emerged as one of the most prominent and leading universities that guides and consults students to choose majors that match the requirements of the UAE labour market and enhance their skills and abilities.

"Around 7187 students enrolled in bachelor's degree programs and 161 students in master's degree programs in both Abu Dhabi and Dubai campuses at ZU will benefit from "My Future" interface in its first phase," he added.

Professor AlMehaideb has also highlighted  that ZU has organized several activities and events to provide academic consultancy and professional guidance, which enable students to make the right decision that fits his or her skills and potentials.

For his part, Al Humaidan said: "launching Mustaqbali interface to boost Emirati jobs and help Emirati graduates came in efforts to keep with the electronic transformation of Abu Dhabi government's services, pointing out the vital role of the Council to reduce the gap between higher education outputs and the future needs of the labour market."

Al Humaidan has also affirmed that the effectiveness, accuracy and success of "Mustaqbali" program will depend largely on the ability to work cooperatively with higher education institutions.

The ADTC is currently completing the second phase of this system, which will provide work placement and internships opportunities to students while they are studying in college, thus equipping them with the necessary skills and preparing them for employment following graduation.

ADTC has been established as a governmental entity in December 2005 in order to support and develop Emiratization strategies and plans in the public and private sectors, and in order to apply the vision of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, and realize the efforts of the rational leadership of Abu Dhabi which aims to develop the national capacities and provide sustainable employment opportunities for them in the labor market.
