Kuwait: Fourth refinery tenders
KUWAIT: Even though many crucial issues dominate Kuwait's political front these days, the fourth refinery issue is the most debatable.Officials asserted that the government will have to choose between two options either wait for the Audit Bureau report on the project, or return to square one and refer the project to the Central Tender Committee (CTC) as demanded by the Popular Action Bloc, reported Annahar. The officials added that in view of the project's importance for Kuwait's future development, the government has come up with a compromise solution which takes into account it's on view and that of the Parliament's.
The plan was initiated in the form of an official request made by the Kuwait Oil Company to the CTC, asking it to halt floating tenders and postpone all related activities till mid-December. The lawmakers, however, appeared to be highly satisfied with this step. He added that this would put an end to the tension between the legislative and the executive, especially with regard to the fourth refinery project.
