DAMMAM: The 6th annual Water, Electricity and Power Generation (WEPower) conference and exhibition will take place in Dammam from June 6-8.

WEPower 2010 will bring together the biggest clients in the water and power industries under one roof, combining an industry-led conference with an international exhibition featuring participants from across the world showcasing their latest products and services.

The event is fully supported by the Ministry of Water and Electricity, Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC), Saudi Electricity Company (SEC), National Water Company (NWC), Water & Electricity Company (WEC) and Electricity and Cogeneration Regulatory Authority (ECRA).

Clean water and efficient power generation is critical to the continued development of Saudi Arabia's industrial economy and WEPower is addressing both these issues with some of the most influential figures in the Kingdom.

On the first day of the conference, Loay Al-Musallam, CEO of NWC, will deliver a keynote speech on "Urban water and wastewater sector transformation in Saudi Arabia."

Other sessions include "Examining the future strategy for Electricity Cogeneration Regulatory Authority in Saudi Arabia: Will strict or Soft Regulation be Conducive to Meeting Demand?" led by Abdullah Al-Shehri, governor of ECRA, and an interactive panel discussion on "Identifying strategies and priorities to meet mid- and long-term increase in demand" chaired by Fouad Al-Sherebi of SEC.

The international exhibition will feature some of the biggest water and power companies displaying their latest initiatives.

A series of workshops will offer visitors and delegates the chance to participate in highly interactive discussions on technical themes, including Multi Effect Distillation, Sustainability and Optimizing the Urban and Industrial Water Cycle and Power Quality and System Reliability.
