The Road Safety Campaign - 'Let us go home safely' - launched by Tristar Group in partnership with the RTA and RoSPA or Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents based in the UK, was declared winner in the CSR category of the recent Supply Chain and Transport Awards (SCATA).

The idea came from Group CEO Eugene Mayne to share Tristar's best practices on road safety with other private and public organizations employing heavy duty commercial truck drivers.

He said during the launching of the campaign on June 10, 2014: "As a major player in Oil and Gas logistics, we are conscious of the potential consequences of an incident, involving road tankers transporting flammable products, and we remain committed to sharing our experiences and international best practices to make the roads safer for all users in the UAE and across the GCC."

In the first week of May Tristar will be launching a similar campaign targeting senior high school students who will soon become drivers on UAE roads. RoSPA's senior examiner and road safety expert Alan Timms will come back to Dubai to conduct the lecture.

For almost 100 years, RoSPA has been quietly working behind the scenes to change both legislation and attitudes surrounding accidents in the UK such as the compulsory wearing of seatbelts and the campaign to stop drink driving, to the more recent ban on handheld mobile phones behind the wheel.
