Dubai Transguard Group, an Emirates Group company, has acquired MACAir, the market-leading Dubai-based mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) contractor in a deal that was concluded yesterday.

The acquisition comes on the back of Transguard's increase in turnover of 57 per cent to Dh607 million ($165 million) and a doubling of profit to Dh75 million ($20 million), during the last financial year.

Transguard Group Chief Executive Officer Dr Abdullah Al Hashimi said: "This acquisition forms an integral part of our mid- to long-term strategic business plan.

"MACAir are renowned specialists in major design and installation projects and, just as importantly for us, they have the MEP maintenance capability that completes our total facilities management service offering."

Under the acquisition MACAir, with turnover of Dh225 million last year, will become a separate business unit within the Transguard Group.
