MUSCAT -- At Comex, Toshiba Gulf Computer Systems Division announced it successfully won the tender for Oman's Information Technology Authority's (ITA) 'National PC Initiative', part of its ambitious Digital Strategy which began in 2003.

The unique PC initiative, launched in November last year, is the first of its kind in the GCC offering a fully funded programme for Omanis and positions Oman as a leader in technology education and literacy in the Arab world.

This groundbreaking deal will see Toshiba and the ITA formalise their long-term commitment to technology education and learning by providing mobile computing laptops to increase PC and digital literacy in various Omani society segments. As part of a competitive pitch, Toshiba was selected as the successful vendor for the deal due to its continuous commitment in providing affordable laptops with unbeatable features, quality and reliability.

Another venue to further technological advancement in Oman was Comex, one of the biggest gatherings of local and international names in the IT, Telecom and Technology industries in the country. Toshiba participated in this year's Comex which was held from April 25 to 29 at Oman International Exhibition Centre. Comex showcased the latest and most innovative technologies and served as a venue for IT and Telecom vendors and professionals in the field of technology.

Toshiba holds 24 per cent market share in Oman and sees a continued growth. Toshiba affirmed its support towards Oman through active participation at Comex Business and Shopper Exhibition.

Recipients of the grant will receive the latest Toshiba Satellite C660 series laptop, which features great performance with its premium HD widescreen and wide array of Toshiba EasyMedia innovations dedicated to meet everyday computing needs that is ideal for the initiative.
